Ericsson recently announced that it has supported Telstra, Australia's leading operator, to implement the world's first LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) carrier aggregation technology based on the commercial network's 1800MHz and 900MHz bands. This important milestone was achieved on July 31 of this year. On the same day, Telstra carried out relevant data transmission through some existing network base stations carrying commercial traffic in Queensland, Australia. The next evolution goal of high-speed mobile broadband services is LTE carrier aggregation, which enables operators to combine multiple frequency bands, make full use of existing spectrum assets, and achieve faster mobile broadband download speeds. Hong Kaishen, president of Ericsson Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, said: "Over the entire Australian region and globally, many operators are migrating users from 2G to 3G or 4G technology, so there is available spectrum in the 1800MHz and 900MHz bands. Australia ’s deployment of LTE-Advanced in these frequency bands will become the focus of global operators. " Ericsson has always supported other countries such as South Korea to deploy LTE-Advanced carrier aggregation technology in other frequency bands. On July 18 this year, Ericsson already supported South Korean LG U + to launch the LTE-Advanced commercial network using the 2100MHz and 850MHz frequency bands.
