Beijing, China – February 23, 2016 – MathWorks today announced that the Kosta Asia R&D Center, a subsidiary of the German Kostal Group, a supplier of automotive electronics, has adopted MathWorks-based model design for its new The electronic steering column lock module completes ISO 26262 functional safety certification on time. Kostar uses Simulink for early verification and validation, and uses Embedded Coder to generate product-level code to develop a module that meets the Automotive Safety Integrity Level D (ASIL D). This certification level requires the highest level of verification and validation across the entire development process and meets the most stringent development tool qualifications of all ISO 26262 grades. The Kesta Asia R&D Center is the first company in China to achieve ISO 26262 ASIL D certification. The integrated toolchain from MathWorks, including Simulink and Embedded Coder, enables KOS's engineers to quickly advance their software development processes and achieve ISO 26262 goals on time. The team at the Kosida Asia R&D Center performs systematic verification of the model in the simulation environment, using Simulink VerificaTIon and ValidaTIon for model standard checks, and then using Embedded Coder for processor-in-the-loop testing and product-level code generation. During the development and integration phases, the robustness of the software was verified using Polyspace Bug Finder and Polyspace Code Prover. The ISO 26262 certification recognizes that Kosida's electronic steering column lock modules meet the stringent standards set forth in the standards and provides an independent means for third parties to assess potential supplier capabilities. The certified electronic steering column lock module has been approved by SAIC General Motors Co., Ltd. and will be put into production soon.
