Whose youth does not have Nokia

A few years ago, walking on the street was a hand-held Nokia. At that time, Nokia was so beautiful. Apple and Samsung phones couldn’t compare with him at that time. However, sticking to the Saipan system and adhering to the "not following" attitude, lacking a convenient response to the market changes in the mobile phone industry, too indulging in the glory of the past, and finally went down.

How many people have sighed for the decline of Nokia, and finally, many years later, at MWC 2016, Nokia CEO Rajeev Suri said excitedly that they are back. Suri stressed at the conference that Nokia will return to the smart phone market (expected to return to the product in 2016), and in order to return to its former glory, they have developed a 10-year plan.

In fact, it is not surprising that Nokia wants to return to the smartphone market. As early as July 2015, Nokia officials made it easy to release a notice saying that they would return to the mobile phone market. And said that Nokia's return to the road based on brand licensing, will identify a partner, the partner is responsible for product production, sales, marketing, after-sales and other links, while Nokia is providing design and mobile technology. Nokia adopted this form when it launched the N1 tablet at the end of 2014. The partner is Foxconn.

In the past few years, not in the smartphone industry, what are our Nokia doing? At this World Mobile Congress (MWC 2016), once the mobile phone industry giant Nokia announced that although the company is not developing in the smart phone industry, it has been working hard on 5G networks, Internet of Things, security, virtual reality and so on.

Internet of Things (IoT)

The need for networking devices other than smartphones and computers is becoming more and more urgent, and an “Internet of Things” where everything can be connected is gradually emerging. Nokia announced at MWC that the company will provide 350 million IoT investment funds. In October last year, Nokia mentioned “consumer wearable devices” in its articles of association. In the charter, Nokia wrote:

“For the consumer and enterprise markets, the company's goal is to research, develop, produce, market, sell and deliver products, software and services. These products, software and services involve network infrastructure and services for telecom operators and other enterprises. Networking, human health and sports, multimedia, big data and analytics, mobile devices, consumer wearables and other electronic products."

As early as 3 years ago, Nokia has applied for a patent for a smart bracelet. With the emergence of smart wearable device networking needs and the advantages that Nokia has accumulated in network technology, Nokia may launch "wearable devices" in the future and become a rule-maker in the Internet of Things technology.

5G network

Nokia Chairman and CEO Rajeev Suri said that Nokia will increase its investment in 5G this year and make efforts in the practical application of 5G cutting-edge technology. Nokia’s $16.6 billion acquisition of Alcatel-Lucent last year will also boost Nokia’s 5G technology.

Nokia demonstrated 5G's multi-domain applications at MWC 2016, demonstrating the potential applications of 5G technology with the support of network infrastructure. Due to the huge bandwidth capacity and near zero delay of 5G technology, new applications such as driverless and remote robots will become a reality.

Virtual reality (VR)

Unlike other manufacturers, Nokia did not provide VR glasses to the public, but launched a VR camera with a price of 60,000. This "big ball" is equipped with 8 optical lenses and 8 microphones to help professionals shoot VR video.

Each lens has a resolution of 2K*2K and records a "half-panoramic" video at a rate of 30 frames per second. To save these high-capacity videos, you also need to purchase a very expensive 500GB SSD from Nokia.

Obviously, after exiting the mobile phone market and selling the Here map, Nokia has turned the center to a professional-grade general market. Even in the next "window" VR field, Nokia's products have nothing to do with the general public.
