The event invited suppliers to compete with other players under different challenges, aiming to advance in specific areas. The “Featherweight†challenge requires that the lighting products developed by the participants radiate the maximum amount of light with the lowest weight. Other competitions involve innovative capabilities for mass production of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) that can be assembled into seats and doors, daylight simulation, recycling, and structural integration.
The company points out that its new Ford F-150 pickups have LEDs for exterior headlights, exterior mirrors and cargo lights, while the Ford Mustang's brakes, directional and taillights are fully LED.
The challenge will be held at the Michigan Advanced Lighting Conference in Lansing, Michigan, USA on November 19th. The winners will be selected in the second half of next year.
