Inventory related market certification for the LED industry

1. EU market certification 1. CE certification

The “CE” mark is a safety certification mark and is regarded as a passport opened by LED manufacturers and entering the European market. Products bearing the “CE” mark can be sold in EU member states, thus realizing the free circulation of goods within the EU member states.

CE certification can be said to be the most advanced product conformity assessment model in the world, and it is the first to introduce the concept of modules. The evaluation module mainly includes: A: An evaluation of a CE-marked product consists of an evaluation module and an evaluation program consisting of these evaluation modules. B: Type test (full product testing by the EU Notified Body). C: Factory audit of the production of the product by the notified body. D: The notified body's factory review of product production and its quality management system. E: The notified body conducts a review of intermediaries such as traders for the quality management system. F: The notified body conducts a review of batch products imported into the EU. G: The notified body conducts a comprehensive review including type testing for products imported into the EU that have not been type tested.

Applying for CE certification is very necessary for LED companies. The EU's laws, regulations and harmonized standards are not only numerous, but also complex in content. Getting help from designated institutions in the European Union is a time-saving, labor-saving and risk-reducing process, while maximizing the trust of consumers and market surveillance agencies. Effectively prevent the emergence of irresponsible allegations. Even in the case of litigation, the CE certification of the EU notified body will become technical evidence of legal effect. Once the EU country is punished, the certification body will share the risk with the company, thus reducing the risk of LED companies.

2.RoHS
RoHS is a mandatory standard enacted by EU legislation, and its full name is the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (Restriction of Hazardous Substances). The standard was officially implemented on July 1, 2006. It is mainly used to standardize the materials and process standards of LED products , making it more conducive to human health and environmental protection. At present, domestic ROHS testing laboratories include UTS excellent test, PONY test, and CTI.

In general, the following six maximum ROOH concentrations are specified for ROHS: cadmium: less than 100ppm; lead: less than 1000ppm; less than 3500ppm in steel alloys; less than 4000ppm in aluminum alloys; less than 40,000ppm in copper alloys; less than 1000ppm in mercury; hexavalent chromium : Less than 1000ppm.

At present, the internationally adopted is the ROHS Directive issued by the European Union in the Official Gazette (QJ) on July 1, 2011, the Directive 2011/65/EU. According to the directive, QJ will take effect from the 20th day after its release, and member states must convert it into national law in 2013.

2. US market certification

1.FCC

The FCC, the US Federal Communications Commission, is an independent agency of the US government and is directly accountable to Congress. According to the US Federal Communications Regulations (CFR Part 47), all LED products entering the United States require EMC certification, called FCC certification.

The purpose of the FCC is to reduce electromagnetic interference, manage and control the radio frequency range, and protect the telecommunications network and electrical products. According to the different use conditions, the certification is divided into two categories: Class A and Class B. Class A is mainly used for commercial or industrial purposes, such as LED street lights. Class B is mainly used for household use products such as LED flashlights.

FCC has specific specifications for different LED products, and once approved, it will be affixed with a special certification mark. The FCC imposes severe penalties on offending products, often causing people to go bankrupt and unable to turn over, so few people know it.

2. UL certification

UL is a shorthand for Underwriter Laboratories Inc. It is the most authoritative in the United States, and it is also a private institution engaged in security testing and identification in the world.

UL is mainly engaged in product safety certification and business safety certification business, and its ultimate goal is to ensure that the LED market sells products with a fairly safe level.
