How to avoid accidents when plant protection drones work

As spring planting season approaches, the aerial spraying operations are in full swing. Plant protection drones are now being activated more than ever, especially with new operators joining the field. The Tianying Brothers team has gathered some of the most common accidents that can occur during drone operations and provided practical tips on how to avoid them.

1. Power Lines
Power lines are one of the biggest challenges for plant protection drones. They not only reduce operational efficiency but also pose a serious risk of collision or crash. Before starting any operation, it's crucial to assess the area thoroughly. If there are many power poles or cables, consider whether it's safe to proceed. Always map out obstacles in advance and plan flight paths that avoid these dangers.

2. High-Voltage Lines
High-voltage lines emit strong electromagnetic fields and are critical parts of the power grid. It's essential to keep plant protection drones at least 10 meters away from them. Never allow the drone to fly over or near high-voltage lines, as this could cause power outages and result in significant damage. In rural areas where lower voltage lines are present, make sure the drone is set to "hover" mode instead of "rise and hover" to prevent collisions with wires.

3. Tree Branches
Tree branches are common obstacles, especially along field edges. Improper handling can easily lead to crashes. When planning your flight path, ensure there’s enough clearance to avoid branches. Maintain a minimum distance of 3 meters between the drone and trees at both the start and end of each flight segment. This small precaution can significantly reduce the risk of accidents and protect both the drone and the crops.
