Bradley was unexpectedly replaced by the executive vice president responsible for strategic growth. At first glance, this shift seems to be laying the groundwork for Bradley's departure from HP. Earlier, there have been rumors in the market that Bradley may be considering jumping to Dell and his job may be the CEO.
However, according to sources familiar with the matter, Bradley once told the Hewlett-Packard CEO Meg Whitman "firmly and categorically" that Dell did not contact him. Sources from Dell also confirmed this, saying that "no job" in the company is suitable for Bradley.
HP stated in a statement that the new position is to "strengthen HP's business in China and expand its global key channel partnership."
This is a critical business area for HP, with up to 70% of its overall business. By sector, channel sales accounted for approximately 80% of HP's print and personal systems group sales, and approximately 60% of corporate group sales.
Bradley's role is to repair these relationships, especially the channel relationships in the Chinese market. One source said, "To be honest, Bradley has a relationship that Whitman doesn't have in China. If someone can bring this channel back on track, then Bradley is the one."
HP stock prices were flat in pre-market trading on the 18th.
