As a Chinese in a neighboring country, what is more concerned about is the issue of nuclear power plants. How is Japan doing now?

Yukihiro Tanizai: First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to my Chinese friends. All levels of China, including President Hu Jintao’s visit to Japan and the children’s spiritual and material assistance to Japan, sent great encouragement to the people in the disaster-stricken areas in Japan.

The damage caused by the leakage of nuclear power plants was indeed larger than expected. In general, radiation doses in Japan tend to be stable. It is possible that Chinese friends saw reports of these radiation hot spots and mistakenly thought that the domestic nuclear radiation dose in Japan was very high. This is not a fact. Japanese nationals are very sensitive to health or the environment. If Japan is really problematic, the Japanese society will have a greater reaction. In most areas of Japan, people are already living a normal life, except for the vicinity of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. Outside the nuclear power plant, people live completely normal lives.

Reporter: In the future, what plans will be made for the development of nuclear power in Japan? China is now developing nuclear power on a large scale. What are your views and suggestions on this aspect?

Yuki Yuro: The nuclear power plant itself is a problem of energy. The energy situation in each country is different. We must consider this issue according to our own situation. For example, in Germany, all nuclear power plants were removed, or some countries decided to continue. China also decided to continue. Each country has its own country, so this is not something that other countries are qualified to comment on.

Of course, if a country's energy situation permits, and no nuclear power plant can develop the economy and industry, this is certainly best, but some countries must have nuclear power plants to develop their economy or achieve CO2 emission reduction targets according to their own conditions.
