At about 7 pm on September 10, the drums in Hengyi Village, Linpu Town were so loud and lively. In the seven-star pool in the village, many people are putting lights on. Not long after, the water was covered with large and small lotus lights. The children jumped and jumped, and the adults picked up the camera to record this wonderful moment. After the lotus lamp was released, the villagers gathered on the open space, and a party featuring the lotus drop and the Yue opera was staged.
According to the villagers, the last day of the lunar calendar in July is the annual Dutch Lantern Festival in the village, which was held to commemorate Xi Shi and her sister Zheng Dan. The lotus lights are made by the villagers themselves. It took half a month this year to produce a total of 208 lights to cheer for the Beijing Olympics next year.
A teacher from the village said: "The origin of the Lantern Festival is quite legendary. In the same year, Xi Shi entered Wu Guo, and her sister, Zheng Dan, accompanied her, but unfortunately died in his hometown. Later, when Shishi returned to Vietnam, he brought it back. A lotus lamp commemorates Zheng Dan. After more than 1,000 years, that is, in the early Southern Song Dynasty, the Fu family who migrated from the north began to settle in this village with the waters of Xi Shi and Zheng Dan. They brought the production of the lotus lamp. Craftsmanship. Since then, the Lantern Festival has been held every year and has been circulating until now, with a history of nearly 900 years.
Fu Haijin, a 65-year-old villager, said that there are seven ponds in Hengyi Village, and each pool has a large pool of towns, collectively known as the Seven Star Pool. They communicate with each other and have an exit leading to the river. The lotus lights are placed in these seven pools and drifted into the river. Every year at the Lantern Festival, the whole village will participate and be as lively as the New Year. During the Spring Festival, Dragon Lantern Festival and Lantern Festival will also be held. There are also 7 "Dragons", 4 "Lions" and 5 dragon boats in the village. They will dance dragons and lion dances during the festival. Each year, more than 5 performances will be organized, including Yue Opera and Lotus. These folk activities enriched the villagers' spare time and increased exchanges with each other, and the village became more harmonious and united.
