33.7% of arc lamps exported through Hong Kong transit (Figure)

The arc lamp is one of the earliest electric light sources invented by man. In 1807, David of the United Kingdom made a carbon arc lamp. In 1878, Brah, the United States, used arc lamps to succeed in street and square lighting. Since the color temperature of the arc lamp is quite close to the color temperature of daylight, it is now often used as an illumination for outdoor color photography.

Over the past 100 years, with the rapid development of science and technology, various new light source products not only have a qualitative leap in quantity and quality, but also have high luminous efficiency, good color rendering, long service life and environmental protection and energy saving. New electric light source products are constantly used in the lighting industry. The life of arc lamps is relatively short, only thousands of hours. Therefore, some new light source products, such as LEDs, electrodeless lamps, etc., have gradually replaced the trend of arc lamps.

Therefore, the export demand for arc lamps is not strong. The customs code for the export of arc lamps is 85394100. In 2005, the export volume was only 60,875 sets, and the total export value was 3.29 million US dollars. The products were exported to 23 countries and regions all over the world.
The United States becomes a major export market

In 2005, the United States became the main importer of Chinese arc lamps. A total of 2.742 million US dollars of arc lamps were imported throughout the year, accounting for 83.4% of the total export of China's arc lamps during the same period.

Indonesia is the second largest market for Chinese arc lamps. In 2005, the total value of arc lamps exported to Indonesia was US$194,000, accounting for 5.8% of the export volume at that time.

According to the export volume, the countries ranked third to fifth are the United Kingdom, Taiwan Province and the Netherlands, which account for 2%, 2% and 1.6% of the total exports respectively. The demand for Chinese arc lamps in other countries is quite limited, and they account for only 5.2% of total exports.
