Summary:

working principle

The isolated flyback converter shown in the figure is based on the TOP258PN (U1) in the TOPSwi tch-HX IC family. Selecting a P-package (8-pin DIP package) eliminates the need for external heat sinks to reduce cost. Typical applications include LCD display power supplies, which typically require lower standby and no-load power consumption.

  • Standby output power is 0.55 W at input power <1 W
  • No-load power consumption <160 mW at 230 V AC input
  • Integrated safety and reliability:
  • Accurate, auto-recovery and hysteretic shutdown with hysteresis shuts down IC temperature over a wide range of conditions
  • Enters the auto-restart protection state when the output short circuit and the feedback loop open loop
  • Output overvoltage protection can be configured for latching or auto-recovery
  • Conforms to EN55022 and CISPR-22 Class B for conducted EMI requirements with EMI margin >10 dBμV
