Following the debut of the PS-R series of photoelectric sensors, this time we introduce you to a new member of the Delta Sensor family - the area sensor. The area sensor, also known as the "light curtain" or "grating", is similar in principle to the on-beam photoelectric sensor, which detects the object by blocking the optical axis between the opposite transmitter and receiver. The difference is that the photoelectric sensor detects the presence or absence of an object at a certain point, and the area sensor can detect an object in a planar area. If an ordinary photoelectric sensor is used to detect the presence or absence of an object within a certain area, it is necessary to install a required number of photoelectric sensors in parallel. Obviously, the installation and adjustment of the area sensor is much more convenient than installing the optical axes of many photoelectric sensors in the same plane. Light curtains are divided into three categories: ordinary light curtains, safety light curtains, and measurement light curtains. Delta's regional sensor is a common light curtain that can be applied to a variety of protection detection scenarios: 1) Detecting the falling workpiece with uncertain path, the photoelectric sensor can only detect the presence or absence of an object at a certain position. When the path position of the falling workpiece is uncertain, the light curtain can detect the presence or absence of an object in a region. Prevent missed inspections. 2) Prevent the selection of wrong parts. There may be many similar parts around the assembly line. In order to prevent workers from loading the wrong parts, you can install a light curtain outside each part basket, by setting a specific order, etc. Workers hand in the wrong part basket for immediate alarm to improve product yield and quality. 3) Detecting workpieces with wide positioning area. When it is necessary to detect the presence or absence of objects of different sizes or hollowing out, it is easy to miss the detection with photoelectric sensors, and the area sensor can solve this problem very well. 4) Anti-intrusion detection, it can be used for anti-intrusion detection in the working area of small special machine tools to prevent operators from entering the dangerous area. It can also be used for anti-intrusion detection of conveyor belts to prevent foreign matter from entering the conveyor belt. 5) Robot motion limitation, which is used to prevent the robot from interfering with peripheral protection when performing tasks. When the area sensor receives an over-limit logic response, it actively activates the robot's safety stop signal. The application of reasonable motion limits that meet operational requirements not only effectively increases utilization, but also adds a safe barrier to the operator. Delta's regional sensors can be widely used in automated production lines such as food and beverage, packaging, electronic components and equipment, storage, and machine tool industries. In addition, the sturdy aluminum alloy casing and IP67 protection can handle various harsh environments such as moisture, oil and dust.
